The fermentation division was set up in 1998 as a new arm of the company to exclusively cater to high-value life saving drugs produced by fermentation route using biotechnology. Within a short span of five years the division has established itself in markets in India and overseas for its APIs and finished dosage forms. Today it exports is product in the markets Brazil, Mexico, Fermentation Plant

Fermentation Plant at Ankleshwar:
The first fermentation unit of the company set up in 1998 is located on a 4-acre plot in the Ankleshwar GIDC Estate in the neighbouring state of Gujarat about 350 km to the north of Mumbai. The plant is well equipped with ultra-modern equipment and skilled manpower and has the capacity to produce upto 1000 kg per annum of the APIs Cyclosporine, Daunorubicin, Doxorubicin and Epirubicin. The unit operates under the strict norms of GMP as laid down by the WHO and has certification by ANVISA (BRAZIL) for cyclosporine.

The facility also features a dedicated laboratory for microbiological research on strain improvement. The production unit is supported by a chemical laboratory engaged in process development and improvement. Plans are on the anvil to upgrade the anti-cancer section towards obtaining international accreditation.
